I'm a painter, not a writer. Words aren't as forgiving as watercolour so I'll keep this statement brief.
I work with watercolour for it's lightness, fluidity and unpredictable nature. It's a versatile medium that can take you from light washes to vivid pigments full of detail. I enjoy how it makes me slow down and consider ever stroke. Watercolour has been a perfect match for my love of birds, in particular New Zealand's natives and endemic species.
New Zealand is the land of birds. Birds that were doing OK till we turned up with our mammals and really messed things up for them...
I hope my paintings inspire people to slow down and appreciate the beauty in what we have left and lost.
